The Challenge

Unity Homes ran its SAP workloads on infrastructure that was costly to operate and scale. Climbing infrastructure spend was squeezing margins and limiting the budget available for growth and analytics initiatives.

The Solution

Shinrai Technologies migrated Unity Homes' SAP environment to an optimised AWS architecture, right-sizing resources and applying strategic resource allocation and cost-saving measures so capacity matched real demand without compromising SAP performance.

About the engagement

The work, in detail.

Unity Homes is one of East Africa’s flagship property developers. The SAP estate ran the operational backbone — financials, project accounting, materials, the systems a property developer cannot afford to lose. Shinrai delivered the migration to AWS, following the SAP-on-AWS playbook documented across the team’s engagements.

The challenge. The existing SAP environment had reached the point where operational risk — outage exposure, recovery-time uncertainty, hardware-refresh cost — was outpacing the value the on-premises footprint was delivering. The business needed an architecture sized to the workload, with the multi-AZ resilience operational SAP estates require, and a cutover that the operations team could trust.

The approach. Migration sized against SAP’s certified EC2 instance list (per SAP Notes 1656099 and 1928533). Multi-AZ topology with HANA System Replication (HSR) between availability zones. AWS Backup vaults to a separate region for the cross-region DR scenario. A documented, tested rollback plan and a full dress-rehearsal cutover against a non-production environment with realistic data volumes before go-live.

The outcome. SAP-on-AWS estate running in production with the resilience posture the business required. The first Well-Architected Review was scheduled 60–90 days post-go-live, once the workload had stabilised, to surface the right-sizing and cost-optimisation candidates that always appear in the first 30 days after a successful migration.
